Since there is no way to change servers in-game, unlike in Halo: The Master Chief Collection, players will have to resort to more complex measures to choose their server region in Halo Infinite multiplayer. There is a fix for players who are looking to lock their server region to the region in which they live so they can have a smoother gameplay experience when it comes to connection. The reason for this is, even though a player's WiFi isn't having connectivity issues, Halo Infinite is putting the player in servers that are nowhere close to their region. Even players with great WiFi and low ping are reporting lag in certain matches. Hitting consistent shots is the only way to get kills in Halo, but the first step in doing so is having a good WiFi connection. Hopefully, 343 Industries and the Halo fanbase can reconcile their differences in the coming weeks and months.Lag and high ping are detrimental in any PvP first-person shooter game, but having both in Halo Infinite can make the game downright unplayable on online servers. Developers at large AAA studios like Naughty Dog are also no strangers to death threats from fans who feel spurned by aspects of the game that they dislike. While these are extreme responses, they are unfortunately far from unprecedented back in October, developers at Blue Box commented on death threats they had received related to their upcoming game Abandoned. The reports of doxxing and death threats, if true, are certainly disturbing.

Not everything has been perfect in this multiplayer mode, however, as many players have been feeling frustrated with how progression has been implemented rather than leveling up via in-game performance like most competitive shooters, Halo Infinite requires players to complete randomized daily challenges tied to certain game modes and strategies. In the weeks following its rollout, the mode has been praised as a return to form for the revered sci-fi franchise, featuring gunplay and physics systems that have been polished to a sheen befitting of the Halo legacy. Halo Infinite's multiplayer surprised fans when it launched unexpectedly this November.
